Prof. Sharma, the former Head & Dean of the Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, has over thirty-five years of teaching and research experience. Marketing, precisely consumer behaviour, is her area of interest. She has her publications in the form of books, book chapters, and research articles in high-impact journals. She has worked on four university-funded projects and won a competition for project funding from the Academy of Indian Marketing. She is on the reviewer board of various international journals. She is the Editor of the Journal of Commerce & Business Studies. Prof. Sharma is a Visiting Professor at Jawahar Lal University, Delhi. She is the Chancellor Nominee of Bhattadev University Assam and Assam Women’s University, Jorhat. She has served as the Visitor Nominee at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh and Treasurer at the University of Delhi. She is the Chairperson, Governing Body of Bharati College, University of Delhi. She is the former chairperson of the governing body of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College, University of Delhi. Prof. Sharma has served as an expert member of the NEP Implementation Committee and the Expert Committee for LOCF, constituted by the UGC. She was the co-chairperson of committees constituted by the University for undergraduate and post-graduate course revision under LOCF. Twenty Ph.D. and fifteen M.Phil. degrees have been awarded under her supervision.
